a little about myself . . .

Publisher

I am the proprietor of Honeycomb House Publishing LLC, a Christian subsidy publisher. Are you looking to self-publish your book? Let us guide you through the maze.

After 30 years in Christian publishing, I've come to realize that there's no such thing as pure self-publishing—no one can publish a book entirely on their own. That's where Honeycomb House comes in. To see how we can help, click on the link for Honeycomb House Publishing LLC above.

Author

I am the author of seven books; I’ve written hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles, and edited numerous books. I am a frequent speaker at writers’ conferences.

In 2011 I compiled my experience in Christian publishing to produce Writing the Christian Nonfiction Book: Concept to Contract, published by SonFire Media. Following this book’s success, SonFire asked me to write the first in a series of instructional e-books for Christian authors. A Christian Writer’s Guide to the Book Proposal was released in April of 2014.

My first novel, The Case of the Exploding Speakeasy, came out in 2013 through Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas. It reflects my love for history and for the Sherlock Holmes stories of Arthur Conan-Doyle.

See my Author page for more information about my books.

Literary Agent

As an agent with WordWise Media Services (wordwisemedia.com), I specialize in the following genres:

  • Nonfiction: theology, biblical studies, church/social/cultural issues, and reference for adults, and just about any genre for children.
  • Fiction: sci-fi/fantasy and historical for adults, young adults, and children.

Most of my clients and publishing contacts are in the Christian (CBA) market, but I do have clients and contacts in the general market as well. If you write books in the genres listed above and are looking for an agent, feel free to contact me.

Editorial Coach

I am available as a coach to authors as well. I can come alongside you to find ways to bring focus to your manuscript, making it more oriented to a specific audience, more effective and more publishable. I can also help you hone your proposal into a dynamic presentation that will spark the interest of a publisher. You may have heard some people refer to themselves as “book doctors”; I prefer the metaphor of a physical therapist, where I work with you, the author, to improve your book, rather than simply making arbitrary editorial revisions. The result is a book that is more publishable, but still your own creation.
